We are very lucky to have 40 acres of private woodland on our doorstep and we have recently planted 900 new hardwood trees to ensure its continuing survival. The local ornithological club have put up a lot of nest boxes in the wood, and you will often see bird watchers in the avenue as it is one of the best places locally to see many of our summer visitors. Almost 90 bird species have been recorded at Beacon Hill. In addition, you will see red squirrels and badgers if you are lucky. Roe deer are also regular visitors.
